Recap: Wizards lose to Pistons 112-99, eliminated from postseason play.

Reggie Jackson scores 39 points as the Pistons beat the Wizards, 112-99. With the loss, there will officially be no postseason basketball for the Wizards. On the flip side, the Pistons clinched a playoff birth with the win.

The Pistons jumped on the Wizards knocking down their first six three-pointers to take an early 26-16 lead. The Pistons would shoot 7-9 from range in the first quarter with Tobias Harris and Reggie Jackson combining for 27 points in the period as the Pistons led 39-25 after one.

Marcin Gortat looked like he would have his way again with Andre Drummond early. But Reggie Jackson found Drummond for an alley-oop midway through the second quarter which got the big man going.

The Wizards had an answer as Ramon Sessions did most of his scoring in the second quarter taking advantage of an older and slower Steve Blake. The Wizards were able to cut the lead to 7, 62-55 at halftime.

Marfieff Morris hit his first three-pointer of the third quarter. That’s where the Keef takeover began. Morris scored 20 points in the third quarter on a combination of jump shots, finishes around the rim, and getting to the free throw line. Morris cut the Pistons lead to two 86-84 on a half-court heave as time expired.

The Wizards regained the lead 87-86 on a Bradley Beal free throw but that was short lived. Reggie Jackson would take over in the fourth quarter with 14 points as the Wizards started playing “hero-ball” without a point guard to get into any set plays.

With just over two minutes to play, Reggie Jackson would hit a floater over Gortat and get fouled to ice the game.

Wizards lose 112-99. There will be no playoff basketball this year for the Wizards.

Detroit gets hot from three-point range: The Pistons went 14 of 32 from three point range tonight including 7-9 in the first quarter. Tobias Harris, Wizards Killer nominee, knocked down his first three three-pointers while Reggie Jackson also connected on his first three three-pointers. The Pistons would spread the wealth as six players knocked down three-pointers tonight.

Big third quarter from Markieff Morris: The Wizards scored 29 points in the third quarter tonight; Markieff Morris had 20 of them. The whole repertoire was on display as Morris was hitting threes, mid-range jumpers, and was getting to the line. Tobias Harris had no answer for Morris in the third quarter which was the main reason the Wizards were competitive in the second half.

Wizards have no answer for Reggie Jackson: Reggie Jackson was terrific tonight scoring 39 points on 14-20 shooting to go along with his nine assists. Sessions, Beal, and Temple all took turns guarding Jackson tonight but none of them could slow him down. He burned them for three (4-5) when Wizards defenders went under the screens and would drive to the hole when Wizards’ defenders went over the screens. John Wall might have slowed him down a bit but overall, it was just a great all around performance from Jackson.
