Wizards get rolled in Boston, 118-98.

Five Celtics players scored in double figures tonight led by Jared Sullinger with 21 as the Wizards get waxed in Boston, 118-98.

The Wizards opened the game up on a 6-2 to run with some easy buckets at the rim forcing the Celtics to use an early timeout. That was about the only thing that went well for the Wizards tonight. Boston, who has had struggles with slow starts this season, beat the Wizards at their own game running up and down dropping 40 in the first quarter on 65% shooting.

Things continued to get worse for the Wizards as the Celtics brought in their reserves and were able to stretch the lead to 30, 61-31 midway through the second quarter.

Whenever the Wizards went on a run to threaten to get back in this game, the Celtics would hit a big shot to bury the optimism. The Wizards went on a 14-0 towards the end of the second quarter but gave up a horrific 72 points in the first half as they trailed 72-49 at halftime.

The Wizards came out strong to start the second half. A quick basket from Bradley Beal and a tough layup and the harm by Otto Porter and the Wizards cut the Celtics lead to 14 early in the third quarter. But Jarred Sullinger had an answer on the other end knocking down back-to-back three pointers in as many possessions and stretching the lead back out to 20.

Kelly Olynyk provided some nice play off the Boston bench scoring 19 points and going 3-5 from long range.

The Celtics dropped 100 on the Wizards through just three quarters and that would be it as the reserves closed out the game. Wizards lose 118-98.

The Wizards poor defense reared its ugly head again tonight. The Wizards gave up 118 points and the Celtics hit the century mark through just three quarters. The Wizards relinquished 48 points in the paint and had no answer for any of the Celtics big men.

To put a damper on the entire night, the Wizards also turned the ball over 24 times. Hopefully the Wizards decide to show up for tomorrow’s game in Atlanta.
